Caroline Baldwin and her daughter Lydia will be participating in the Air Race Classic again this year – again, as race team #29. Caroline's granddaughter Cara is not racing. Cara is now an employee with SkyWest and is training for co-pilot / first officer position.

"Lydia and I depart on Friday morning (June 15) from Silver City for Sweetwater, TX," Caroline said. "After a few days of briefings, plane inspections, and banquet, we will all be anxious for race start on Tuesday, June 19."

In cooperation with Air Race Classic partner MAProgress, the ARC website will display the 2018 race course overlaid on a map of the United States. Each stop is clearly marked; race fans can watch the racers’ progress as they proceed along the course.

Next to the moving map is a list of all the race teams; by clicking on the race number, you can call up information about each individual team, including racer bios, team name, airplane number and specs, position, speed and altitude. Teams are racing against their handicaps.

Each team will be carrying a Spot tracker. The link to the page for tracking the teams this way is: https://airraceclassic2018.maprogress.com/

Also, live broadcast of radio calls is happening via: https://www.liveatc.net/

Enter the airport code and tune in to hear teams making radio calls at the Start, fly-by airports and at the Terminus. The airports won't go live on LiveATC until a couple of days before the race starts. The airport codes are:
