Cause: Under Investigation Location: 4 miles north of Saliz Pass (Gila NF)
Containment: 70% Fuels: Timber (litter, grass and understory)
Total Personnel: 204

General Information: On Thursday, June 21 a structure fire was reported northeast of Saliz Pass. The fire crossed US Highway 180 and impacted a Navopache Electric Power line and was threatening the Tucson Electric transmission line.

Fire Operations: Ranch fire operations went well yesterday with crews completing the line around the fire perimeter. Crews will continue holding and mop-up today. Demobilization of crews will begin today and will be transitioning to a Type 4 organization at the end of shift today.

Navopache Electric is working hard to get the damaged poles replaced that are on top of the ridge above the highway. The generator is up and running. Thank you for curtailing your power needs while our crews worked to get everyone on. You may now use your power as normal. Unfortunately, as earlier reported, there are still at least a half dozen members we cannot energize due to their proximity on the fire line. As soon as we are able to get in there and repair the line, we will have them back on. Crews will continue to work towards restoring power as safely and quickly as possible.

Highway 180 is open, as for the delay and the pilot car system the local Sherriff and NMDOT will continue this effort through Sunday evening until 9:00 p.m.

Fire Safety/Closures: The Gila National Forest is in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. Fire Danger is still rated as VERY HIGH.
