Indiana Bones visited the Silver City Public Library on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, as part of the Silver City Public Library summer reading program Libraries Rock! The event was educational and interactive fun for the whole family.

Mike McCartney, also known as Indiana Bones, used storytelling to combine history, archeology, paleontology, action, adventure, and puppetry with ancient legends, mythology, and folklore.

McCartney used fossils found in New Mexico, which included Velociraptor claws and a Tyrannosaurus Rex tooth, as part of a story. He also told the folklore of “The Legend of the Singing Sand Dunes of White Sands New Mexico” with his faithful companion Draco the Dragon. He also told the Greek Mythology story of Medusa to close out the event. Each story was educational and had a unique humorous twist.
