The Grant County Commissioners this morning at their regular meeting, Thursday, July 19, 2018, after hearing an hour and a half of public input, some on the hospital and some on the Wildlife Services contract, moved into executive session to discuss disposal of county property, specifically the Gila Regional Medical Center.

After their deliberations, they came out of session. Commissioner Brett Kasten made the motion to keep the hospital as is.

Cheering and clapping ensued, although the commissioners had yet to vote.

[Editor's Note: Each commissioner made comments before voting, but they will come in the next article, as will their comments and requests after the vote.]

After each made his or her case on how the decision of each was reached to consider the hospital remaining independent, they voted individually, and each voted Aye to keep the hospital independent.
