The last weekend in July was a treat for Hummingbird lovers as they attended the Hummingbird Festival at the Mimbres Culture Heritage Center. People from all over came to the area to watch the little birds being weighed, measured, banded and given a meal before being released to continue their Hummingbird lives. This annual banding helps researchers keep track of the birds, their health and the health of their environment.
In addition, visitors could learn more about the Mimbres people who lived in the area hundreds of years ago, see arts and crafts area vendors were offering and of course, eat the delicious food from the Duck Stop food truck.
