A sentencing hearing for Brad Farrington, 31, of Silver City, has been set for Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at 10 a.m., in Silver City’s 6th Judicial District Court. Farrington was convicted Aug. 16, 2018, of first-degree murder in the death of his estranged wife, Cassy Farrington.

According to George Zsoka, lead prosecutor for the District Attorney’s office, the conviction carries a mandatory life sentence with an automatic appeal to the New Mexico State Supreme Court. Zsoka said he expects no argument at the hearing from either prosecution or defense attorneys.

The hearing is also the venue, Zsoka said, for the victim’s and the accused’s families to address the court.

Farrington remains in custody at the Grant County Detention Center, according to GCDC staff.
