The Western New Mexico University Foundation held its annual Hats in the Garden fundraiser on a sunny Sunday afternoon, Sept. 30, 2018.

WNMU Vice President of student affairs and enrollment management Isaac Brundage, served as moderator. Ward Ruddick directed the vintage fashion show presented by Patsy Madrid of Vintage Fantasies in downtown Silver City.

Participants included kids, women, men, alumni, current and former professors, and community members. The food featured street tacos with a tropical theme titled Fedoras and feathers, with the hat style and/or the adornment on most hats.

Carmen Miranda-style hats won most popular hat styles.
