The most attended events of the Mimbres Region Arts Council annual Southwest Print Fiesta are the Vendors’ Market and the Steamroller Printing. On a sunny Saturday afternoon, people from all over the Southwest strolled among the more than 30 vendors who were showing and selling their work.
Market Street, from Texas Street to the Big Ditch was filled with booths showcasing the works of print artists from throughout the region. Lithographs, cards, clothing, lamps, and all types of printed work were available.
And of course, there was the Steamroller Printing, which every hour rolled prints of a selected artist. The template was carefully inked, placed on a piece of plywood and covered with the paper, carpet padding and another piece of plywood. Then the roller did its job and the print was carefully revealed.
