Greg Meyers, TLC superintendent, returned to update the public on the Pinos Altos Road construction project and answer questions on Dec. 12, 2018. The first question came from Danny Davis, who asked for a general progress report.

Meyers said the work is a little over 50% complete, with most of the progress visible. The top layer is the last major step. “32nd Street is coming to life with the new southbound lane,” Meyers said. “We’re actually moving forward pretty fast. We’re hoping to get all the curb and gutter in, all the way to Pine (Street), and that side paved by next week.” Meyers said this progress is huge for this time of year and the completion is still slated for early Spring.

One of the major changes is the intersection at Bosworth. The area will now have a four-way stop instead of a five-way stop. The remaining dead-end area will be defined parking for Pampered Pet Care.

The electrical contractor work keeps the present lane closed as lighting is part of the project. In total there are 70 light poles from 180 to 32nd Street. Additionally they are waiting to put the second layer of asphalt down when the weather is right so they can do the area from 19th Street to 32nd Street in one pass.

A concerned citizen asked if there will be bike lanes designated on the new road. “It’s part of the project,” Meyers said, “It won’t be striped until the second pass of asphalt.” The “bicycle” symbols will be in the lane as well as arrows and signage.
