On Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 the Grant County Back Country Horsemen held an exhibit at Tractor Supply about Surviving Wildfire. Members of the organization helped visitors learn about defensible space around one's own property; evacuating pets, horses, other livestock; when to evacuate; what to do, and where to go. A “Grab-and-Go” list plus other helpful information were available in handouts. Emergency personnel answered specific questions.
Among the exhibits were a horse trailer outfitted with emergency supplies for evacuating a horse or horses. The Pinos Altos Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department had volunteers there discussing defensible space.
