Hidalgo County, NM – On March 24, 2019 at around 3:30 p.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a triple fatal head on collision on Interstate 10 at about mile post 19 near Lordsburg.

The initial investigation indicates that a 2015 Freightliner tractor trailer was traveling east on Interstate 10, when for unknown reasons it crossed the center median and hit a west bound 2013 Kenworth tractor trailer head on. The Freightliner’s trailer hit a 1999 Dodge pickup that was also traveling west. Both tractor trailers caught on fire.

During the crash three individuals suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator, they were identified as the driver of the 2013 Kenworth, Jose Apodaca (47) of El Paso, a passenger in the 1999 Dodge pickup, Susan Rojo (47) of Sierra Vista, AZ, and the driver of the 2015 Freightliner, Sean White (50) of West Covina, CA. 

 On March 26, 2019 the driver of the 1999 Dodge pickup, Arnold Rojo (51) of Sierra Vista, AZ succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at an area hospital. 

A female passenger (13), in the 1999 Dodge, believed to be from Arizona was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries, her current condition is unknown. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor and seatbelt use has not been determined. The investigation continues with the assistance of the New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit with no additional information currently available.
