Summary: The Indian Fire is burning on National Forest System lands on the Wilderness Ranger District in Catron County, NM. It is located southwest of Coffee Pot Reservoir within the boundaries of the Gila Wilderness.

The full suppression strategy includes hand crew response and helicopter water drops due to proximity to private land. The helicopter will be drawing water from Snow Lake. Forward progression of the fire has been stopped and heavy fuels have been piled.

Smoke from fire rises up and away during the daytime, but in the evening smoke can pool back down in canyons, drainages, and basins.
