Summary:

The Spring Fire, is burning on National Forest System lands in Catron County, New Mexico. This fire is burning in an area that has had both natural and prescribed fire. The values include multiple historic structures, private lands, wildlife, and fencing. The strategy for this fire is confine and contain. A transfer of command took place this morning; Incident Commander Clark and Verthein (trainee) are in charge of the fire and it is being placed into monitoring status. This is the last news release on this incident unless conditions dramatically change.

Smoke is anticipated to be minimal today due the majority of interior fuel having been consumed. Smoke from fire rises up and away during the daytime, but in the evening smoke can pool back down in canyons, drainages, and basins.
