Coal Fire
The lightning-caused Coal Fire is approximately 1 acre, burning on National Forest System lands, Grant County, NM. This fire lies within the boundaries of the Hells Hole Wilderness Study Area, west of Mule Creek and south of NM Hwy 78. This fire is continuing to smolder and burn in heavy dead and down timber. The smoke is visible from NM Hwy 78.

Whiterocks Fire
The lightning-caused Whiterocks Fire was reported today, is approximately .25 acres, burning on National Forest System lands, Catron County, NM. This fire is This fire can be seen from U.S. Hwy 180, northwest of Alma, New Mexico, near the Blue Range Wilderness.

Fire is exhibiting low to moderate effects and received some light precipitation last night. Crews will be scouting to gather information on size and assessing potential for growth. Weather forecast show a chance of the fire areas receiving precipitation over the next several days.
