The Western New Mexico Foundation hosted its annual fundraiser, Hats in the Garden, on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 29, 2019. The theme this year was "Around the World." Jodi Edens Crocker, foundation director, introduced the theme, dressed as the chief stewardess. Her husband, Jack Crocker, provost and vice president of academic affairs, was the pilot. Their son, William, was owner of "Western Airlines," and their daughter, Jessie, served as a model. Other foundation members were dressed as stewardesses or, in one case, as the aircraft traffic director.
The inimitable Ward Rudick moderated the fashion show, which featured fashions from Vintage Fantasies, owned by Patsy Madrid. Madrid was on hand to dress the models and direct their performance.
The People's Choice for best hat adorned the head of Christine Rickman. She purchased the Zulu hat in South Africa.
