One of New Mexico's most sought-after historians and speakers, Dr. Richard Melzer will be guest speaker Sunday, November 6, at 2:30 pm, at the Silver City Woman's Club, 1715 Silver Heights Blvd., following the Silver City Museum Society's annual meeting scheduled for 1pm.

Dr. Melzer's talk is titled “Looking at New Mexico's Struggle for Statehood through Political Cartoons,” and Museum Society members will be admitted FREE to Melzer's talk. The general public will be charged a nominal $5 admission. The admission charged will be waived for folks who want to join the Museum Society before they take their seats for the talk. 

Richard Melzer has authored, co-authored or edited 15 books, and has published countless articles and book chapters on New Mexico's colorful history. He is past president of the New Mexico Historical Society, and has been a professor of history at the University of New Mexico's Valencia campus since 1979.

As a lighter ending to the day's event, the Museum Society will stage a “Dr. Melzer Look-alike Contest,” the winner of which will receive an autographed copy of one of Dr. Melzer's books.

Copies of Dr. Melzer's books will be offered for sale at the event, and Dr. Melzer will be happy to sign copies purchased at the talk.
