The Copper Cowbelles have announced their 2011-2012 scholarship recipients. Each year, the Cowbelles award scholarships to Grant County high school graduates who are pursuing Agricultural college degrees. The Copper Cowbelles is an organization whose mission it to promote the livestock industry and to educate the public of the nutritional benefits of beef. President Patricia Hunt states: "Even though our primary goal is to promote beef production, the Copper Cowbelles  recognize the importance of all agricultural-based careers and therefore gives assistance to students studying agricultural subjects including Animal Science, Range Management and Horticulture."

This year the Cowbelles are proud to award $300.00 scholarships to the following students at New Mexico State University:  Shannon Norris, Aubrey Henderson and Erin Crumbley are studying Animal Science. Bonnie McCauley is attending Redlands Community College and studying Animal Science. Ashley Townsend is currently at Western New Mexico University taking core classes to prepare for a major in Animal Science. Several of the recipients have plans to further their education in Veterinary fields.

Scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year will soon be available. For more information, contact Pat Hunt at 534-7649.
