LGBTQ Grant County, PFLAG Silver City, and Western New Mexico University's Institute for Rural Social Work Research, Psychology Department and the Center for Gender Equity will be hosting a day-long symposium, ‘Affirmative Practice with Gender Diverse (Trans) People: Across the Lifespan', presented by Lisa L Persinger, Ph.D. & lore m dickey, Ph.D. from the Department of Educational Psychology, at Northern Arizona University. The event will be held June 5, 2017 at the Global Resource Center at WNMU.

The symposium will be held from 9am to 5pm on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Besse-Forward Global Resource Center at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, NM. The event will include a working lunch break, and a panel discussion by trans adults and parents of trans children that will follow the lectures. The schedule for the event is:
9am-1pm: Supporting Healthy Development of Students Presenting as Gender Expansive & Transgender in Schools (includes a working lunch break).
1pm-5pm: Working with Gender Diverse Adults.

Admission will be free to students and the public, but those who want continuing education credits will pay $100 for 8 hours or $50 for a half day (CE fees include lunch). Continuing education units have been accredited by NASW-NM which is approved for New Mexico counseling, psychology & social work professional licenses. Advance registration is required for CE Certificates.

LGBTQ Grant County is a 501C-3 category nonprofit that provides services to the LGBTQ community of southwest New Mexico. The Holiday Inn Express of Silver City will provide conference rates for lodging for participants who mention this symposium.
