The Wellness Coalition is seeking nominations for the 2012 Grant County Youth Leadership Awards. Help us recognize outstanding youth who have demonstrated leadership, taken initiative and have done amazing things to better our community this year. Please take time to nominate a deserving youth today.

Because of the many different ways youth help their schools and community; we have identified six distinct awards that, we hope, represent the ways youth make a difference.   Please send this call for nominations around to your contacts and help us get the word out. Nomination form is attached.

The award categories are:
Community Activism Award - Recognizes youth who have shown leadership and contributed time and talents to solve a community problem or create a significant change in Grant County's physical or social environment.

Personal Achievement Award - Recognizes youth who have overcome difficult circumstances, reached personal goals and/or who are admired by peers for a valuable attribute, for helping others, or for performing a kind or courageous act.

Creative Contributions Award - Recognizes youth who have used their artistic talents to positively impact the community through visual, digital, performing and written arts.

Group Leadership Award - Recognizes a group of youth who have demonstrated collaborative efforts that are directed toward improving community conditions or societal concerns.

Environmental Sustainability / Activist Award- Recognizes youth who participate in, advocate for and show leadership in areas of the natural environmental.

Academic Achievement Award - Recognizes youth who have high levels of academic achievement and have made significant progress in raising their achievement levels.

We are seeking nominations for outstanding youth and groups of Grant County youth between the ages of 11-18 that have been excelling in any of these areas. There is an attached nomination form that we hope you will take the time to fill out and submit. Nomination deadline is March 15, 2012 and the Youth Leadership Awards Celebration is April 28th.

This is a great opportunity to give some of our youth the recognition they deserve for the community work they have been performing. You can email me your nomination if you wish. Brendan@wellnesscoalition.org
