Silver City, NM, September 20, 2017—For Immediate Release. The Gila National Forest is continuing to engage folks that have an interest in the Forest Plan Revision process.

The Forest is hosting a Forest Plan Revision Open House on September 25, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:30 pm at 3005 E Camino del Bosque, Silver City, NM. The open house format is a casual opportunity to engage with Forest Service specialists about Forest Plan Revision. Stakeholders can arrive any time (not just at the starting time), stay for as little or long as they like, and can circulate among Forest Service specialists discussing various resources. There will not be a presentation or an agenda at the Open Houses. Open Houses are not necessarily part of a comment period so we will not be recording public comments, but stakeholders are welcome to fill out comment forms or drop off comment letters for consideration. No RSVP is necessary for the open houses.

There will be a technical meeting on management and sustainability of infrastructure (e.g. trails, roads, facilities), on September 29 from 9am - 12pm at the Grant County Conference Center, 3031 Highway 180 East, Silver City, NM. Technical meetings are scheduled for an extended period during the day to encourage participation by interested local governments, state/federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, and members of the public with more time for discussion on topics and get into the details more. Please RSVP for the Technical Meetings by email (gilaplan@fs.fed.us) or call (575-388-8280). The summaries for previous technical meetings on multiple and traditional uses, and management/designated areas have been posted to our website at http://go.usa.gov/h88k.

We welcome input on any of these subjects at any time. Comments can be submitted via email to gilaplan@fs.fed.us or via mail to Gila National Forest, Attn: Forest Plan, 3005 E. Camino del Bosque, Silver City, NM 88061. If you would like to be on our contact list to receive regular updates on how you can be involved in Forest Plan Revision, please email (gilaplan@fs.fed.us) or call (575-388-8280).
