Ever had a hankering to play Marshal Dillon, reluctant with his gun but handy with his fists? Wonder Woman Gale Gadot, maybe? Or swashbuckling Erol Flynn? Now's your chance.

The Silver City Community Theatre offers Nick DeBona's course in stage combat, open for community enrollment. The session will meet Friday, October 27, 10-11 a.m. Cost of the course is $30.

DeBona, a certified master in Tai Chi Chuan and Kung Fu, focuses on the Wing Chun style of Kung Fu, which uses technique and speed over force and power. His instruction in stage combat considers limitations like youth, age and disabilities. He has achieved international recognition.

Orientation with a warmup includes a discussion of the stunt business and proper attitudes. The physics of stunt work will be presented. DeBona will introduce rolls, falls, and dramatic kicks and punches as well as combining all for the total effect.

The course covers the use of firearms as props including basic reactions to guns and the weapon variety available and their safe use. There will be a separate segment on theatrical fight scenes, the choreography of the variety of movements and the creation of the total story.

For enrollment, send your name and address to Ted Presler, SCCT president, at presrub@gmail.com. He will inform you of the course location. Payment will be expected at the beginning of the class on October 27.
