SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO, November 24, 2017 - Progressive Democratic Candidate for Governor, Peter DeBenedittis, will meet with Silver City area residents on Wednesday, November 29 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Shevek's Casuals, 619 N Bullard. DeBenedittis encourages all to attend to discuss how to bring progressive policies to the governor's office in New Mexico.

According to DeBenedittis, "Anyone who has spent more than a passing amount of time in New Mexico is aware that we are at the bottom of nearly every quality of life ranking in the country. The list goes on with one depressing statistic after another. It's clear that our state's current trickle-down economic policies just make the well-to-do more prosperous, while leaving the majority of us struggling to simply get by."

DeBenedittis' approach to economic growth and resolving some of the long-standing issues that plague New Mexico is different.

"We need to grow New Mexico's economy by watering its roots," he insists.

For DeBenedittis, this means detailed plans to provide single-payer healthcare for all New Mexicans, early childhood education statewide, living wages of at least $15/hour, creating a public state bank along the lines of North Dakota's highly successful system, and adopting 100% renewable energy.

In September 2017, DeBenedittis released a Statement of Principles for Medical Cannabis, Recreational Cannabis and Hemp, available at www.peoplefirst.online/issues. This white paper represents a unified approach to expanding medical cannabis and legalizing its recreational use.

In November 2017, DeBenedittis released his three-pronged progressive economic plan in order to bring economic health and prosperity back to New Mexico. Details of the plan are available here.
