Dr. Clara Farah will be speaking at the Gila Senior Center on Tuesday, December 12th. Please come for a meet and greet at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and presentation and exchange of information between noon and 2 p.m.

Dr. Farah is an advocate for older adults in Lincoln County. She spearheaded the organization Creative Aging of New Mexico that addresses health, housing, transportation, and opportunities for older adults http://creativeagingnm.org/WhoWeAre.htm.

Dr. Farah also serves as Chair of the Policy Advisory Committee of the New Mexico Department on Aging. The Department on Aging provides services throughout New Mexico to older adults to "assist in maintaining their independence, dignity, autonomy, health, safety, and economic well-being, thereby empowering them to live on their own terms in their own communities as productively as possible."

This is an excellent opportunity to hear about Lincoln County activities, share information, and address issues of concern to the aging community and advocates in Grant County. Grant and Lincoln counties have many similarities.

Please call 535-2490 and let us know if you plan to attend. If you would like lunch, let us know or call the Gila Senior Center at 535-2888. The Gila Senior Center offers daily lunches for people 60 and over for a suggested donation of $2.25 and for people under 60 - $6. Twenty-four-hour notice is generally required for lunch.

Everyone is welcome. There is no charge other than if you choose to have lunch.
