Silver City, NM — The Silver City District is planning to burn piles at the Ft. Bayard Administrative Site beginning next Thursday or Friday (January 18-19), as weather conditions permit.

Pile burning usually has a duration of one day. Smoke for the Fort Bayard pile burn may be visible at Crumley Ranch, throughout the Fort Bayard trail system and possibly in Santa Clara.

Smoke will be monitored to ensure that the New Mexico Environment Department's Air Quality Bureau regulations are being met. Smoke-sensitive individuals and those with respiratory or heart disease should take precautionary measures. Air quality information and health protection measures are posted online at the New Mexico Department of Health's website: https://nmtracking.org/fire.
