The number of Americans living in poverty has grown at an alarming rate since 2000, while the middle class has rapidly shrunk. Will these trends continue?

A rousing discussion of the facts, the causes and the solutions to this economic erosion will take place Thursday, January 18, at 6:00pm, at the WNMU Miller Library. Grant County Democratic Party Chair Frances Vasquez urges everyone to attend, “The redistribution of wealth taking place in this country has an impact on every single one of us. This forum should help us to better understand the direction our economy is heading, and how it will be influenced by the new tax code.”

Forum panelists will be include Dr. Francis Reyes, Assistant Professor of Economics at WNMU, Cynthia Hall from U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich’s office and Mike Morones, CPA and Partner in Morones & Knuttinen, LLC. The Moderator will be Lynda Aiman Smith, retired Associate Professor of Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at North Carolina State University.

Sponsors of the Forum include: the Grant Co. Democratic Party, WNMU Miller Library and MEChA student organization, and Young Democrats. Refreshments will be served following the discussion.
