Silver City is the only New Mexico community still operating under its original territorial charter. Come celebrate the anniversary of this historic 1878 document on February 17, 2018. Local events will be posted to https://www.facebook.com/SCTerritorialCharter/. Please check back for updates.

 Scheduled events and highlights:

8:30 - 10:30 am, hike Boston Hill, Contact Sylveen at Royal Scepter, 538-9001 for meeting location

9 am – 4 pm Tours at Historic Ft. Bayard and people in period dress

9 am Urban Challenge Run, sign up at the Visitor Center

11 am Children’s Run in the Big Ditch below 6th St.

1 pm History of mining in Grant County, talk by Virginia McLemore, Senior Economic Geologist, New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, at the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce & Conference Center

2 pm Re-enactment at the Silver City Museum Annex featuring current and former officials in period garb followed by traditional guitar performance by Danny Cordova and performance of New Mexico song by Kenn Kepler.
