New Mexico State University's Grant County Cooperative Extension Office will offer a free Manage Your Chronic Disease /Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (MyCD/CDSMP) beginning early Mid-March. The MyCD/CDSMP is an interactive group workshop for adults of all ages living with one or more ongoing health conditions like diabetes, arthritis, pain, cancer, high cholesterol, depression, asthma, heart disease, and high blood pressure. The MyCD/CDSMP focuses on building skills for improving pain management, nutrition, exercise, medication use, emotions, and communicating with doctors.

The weekly workshop sessions will be held from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. each Thursday from March 22 – May 3, 2018 at the Extension Meeting Room, 2610 N. Silver St., Silver City, NM. . It will be led by certified workshop leaders, Judy O'Loughlin, Susie Snedeker, Mary Ann Finn and Leticia Roybal. Call the Grant County Extension Office at 575-388-1559 to sign-up for this free program. Family, friends, and caregivers are also welcome to attend.

The MyCD/CDSMP was developed and tested at Stanford University and has proven to be very effective. The program is supported by the New Mexico Department of Health Diabetes Prevention and Control Program and is being offered in partnership with New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service.
