1 rsSilver City Art Walks and other special events always make the streets and sidewalks interesting places with interesting people! The Silver City Art Association is again planning to join in the annual Silver City Blues Fest weekend celebration with a couple of " you-gotta-be-there" happenings.

On Sunday, May 27, while folks are waiting for another day of great blues music to start in Gough Park, the downtown art galleries are putting their best foot forward and their newest and best art on display. From 10 a.m. till 2 p.m., galleries will be open and welcoming Blues Fest folks into their inviting domains. From the traditional art to the totally insane; it is all here in the Silver City galleries! Pottery, sculptures, wall art that includes paintings-encaustics-photography and so much more, fabric art and totally off the wall collages! During your tour of the galleries, you are likely to find special opening exhibits, some enticing treats, a bit of live music here and there and, of course, lots of fantastic art!

May 26 and 27 is also the time for the annual Silver City "Paint Out." Our wonderful area and out-of-town artists bring out their easels to the streets of Silver City painting the scenes that capture what their artistic eye sees. The competing plein aire painters are also invited to paint in Gough Park during the Blues Fest. Finished artwork will be displayed at the Silver City Art Association booth during the Blues Festival. Stop by and check them out and vote for your favorites!

So many exciting happenings in Silver City on Memorial Day weekend! The three-day free music fesitival in the park! The array of unique shops, galleries and eateries throughout the historic downtown! And on Sunday, midday, the annual gallery art walk with plein art painters capturing the best of our town on canvas! Pick up the art walk guides at the Visitor Center, the SCAA booth in the park and at galleries around town. Everyone is invited to come join in the fun!
