If you have visited the exhibition Flamenco: from Spain to New Mexico(on view through Memorial Day), you have seen that this exhibition utilizes all of the first floor exhibition space in the museum. For this reason, it will be necessary to close our galleries as we pack up the artifacts and prepare them to journey on their next destination. During this period, the Silver City Museum Society Store will be open 10-4, Tuesday-Sunday.The Exhibition Flamenco: From Spain to New Mexico has been organized by the Museum of International Folk Art, Santa Fe, NM, and is circulating through GuestCurator Traveling Exhibitions.It is supported by the International Folk Art Foundation, and the Exhibition Sponsors are the Heritage Hotels and Resorts and the New Mexico Multi-Cultural Foundation.

The Silver City Museum will be reinstalling our popular interactive Victorian Parlor exhibition in the Ailman House section of the museum. Please also look forward to our next special exhibition in the Dodge Gallery, Contemporary Casta Portraiture: Nuestra "Calidad," by Delilah Montoya. The exhibition will open at 4 pm on Friday, June 15, 2018 and be on view until September 30, 2018.The first look at the exhibition will be a special opening reception on Friday, June 15, 2018, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, to which the public is invited.
 
Enjoy a sneak peak in the Silver City Museum Society Store: The exhibition Contemporary CastaPortraiture: Nuestra "Calidad," features a companion catalog published by Arte Publico Press that includes the portraits and an essay by Delilah Montoya, Professor of Photography and Digital Media, School of the Art, University of Houston, "An Artistic Biography," by Holly Barnet-Sanchez, Associate Professor Emerita Modern Latin American, Chicano/a, and Latino/a Art History Department of Art and Art History, University of New Mexico, The "(E)Quality of Nuestra ‘Calidad'" by SurpikAngeliniTransart Director and "Restaging Casta and Demystifying Genetics in Delilah Montoya's Nuestra 'Calidad'" by Mia Lopez Assistant Curator at DePaul Art Museum, DePaul University, Chicago.
