"Reflection at Lake Chocorua", White Mountains, New Hampshire by Karen StephensonThe following are Featured Artists of the Grant County Art Guild this weekend at the historic Hearst Church Gallery in Pinos Altos, just up Highway 15 from Silver City: Dawn Byrum (Friday), S. Ann Nace (Saturday), and Karen Stephenson (Sunday).

An early photography influence in Karen Stephenson’s childhood was her great-uncle, an airplane mechanic with Lockheed, whose 40’s SpeedGraphic and Leica cameras she inherited. On vacations to Anaheim, CA, she wanted to play in his darkroom for but for only brief sessions of five minutes or so before wanting to jump in his pool or moving on to the next fun thing. It would take several years for her interest to take hold. After raising kids, working in the corporate realm, and trying many different art and craft businesses, Karen decided to learn Photography seriously and jumped into learning through Florida Camera Clubs, college classes and self study. She loves photographing landscapes, architecture and everything colorful.

Hours to meet the artists are 10:00-4:00 Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
