Every time we turn around, there's something new, fun, and interesting going on at The Commons! Get your calendar out so you won't miss any of it!

Guatemalan Mercado, Saturday, July 14 from 10-4

Curt Porter brings authentic handmade crafts direct from Guatemala... beautiful, colorful items that would make unique gift items, but don't forget to buy some for yourself as well! Proceeds from the event help to support both the artisans and The Commons, so your dollars spent will do double duty.

Community Herb Class, Tuesday, July 17 from 6-8 pm

Michael Cottingham of Voyage Botanica offers these community herb workshops, highlighting a specific herb each time with emphasis on healing/medicinal qualities. $20 per class to benefit the free herbal medicine clinic on Wednesday.

Medicinal Herb Clinic, Wednesday, July 18 from 9am-noon

Michael Cottingham of Voyage Botanica will conduct this herbal medicine clinic on a sliding scale/donation basis.

Garden Soiree and ROOTED Showcase, Monday, July 23 from 5-7 pm

As our 2018 "ROOTED: Youth Growing Change" internship draws to a close, the participating interns are throwing a party for the community! They will be preparing home-made pizza and homegrown salads, in addition to sharing what they've learned this summer at The Commons. But there's more fun to be had... a garden-hat contest and a raffle with prizes left over from our Uncommonly Good auction (lots of uncommonly good stuff)! Come out to support ROOTED and celebrate summer with us!

Local Foods, Local Places, Wednesday and Thursday, August 1 and 2 (see times below)

This 2-day event brings together local food network stakeholders, local community members, non-profit representatives, public health professionals, business owners, city and county staff, and federal and state agency staff, and hopefully YOU, to participate in facilitated sessions to identify local foods and local place-making initiatives in Silver City.

The community meeting (Wednesday, August 1 from 5-7:30 pm) will include interactive discussions about opportunities to use local food initiatives to strengthen downtown Main Street, foster economic development, and promote better public health outcomes. Dinner will be provided.

The second day, action planning sessions (Thursday, August 2 from 9am - 4pm) will highlight case studies, best practices, and focus on creating a community action plan with specific implementation steps.

Participants are welcome to attend both days or any part of either day. There is no charge to participate in these Local Foods, Local Places events.

Come out to The Commons for uncommonly good times!
