cloudy morning rs"Cloudy Morning" painting by S. Ann NaceThis weekend's Featured Artists of the Grant County Art Guild at the historic Hearst Church Gallery in Pinos Altos, just up Highway 15 from Silver City are: S. Ann Nace (Friday), and Jackie Blurton (Saturday and Sunday).

blurtons pillows rsPillows featuring Jackie Blurton's ArtCome see Ann's lovely work as featured artist on Friday Aug 3. Ann's plein air paintings are about her emotional response to the color of light in a given place and time. She grew up painting watercolors and studied fine art at Kutztown University in her home state of Pennsylvania. Further study at the Cape School of Art, the School of Light and Color and with a variety of inspiring teachers and mentors has enabled her to express her visual experience in paint. Since relocating to New Mexico, Ann has focused on plein air oil painting as a way to continue her exploration of the color of light.

Then on Saturday and Sunday, the Guild will feature artist Jackie Blurton. Jackie states that "Birds fill our world with beauty and song. They are watchable wildlife that everyone can observe and enjoy every day. Through my art I hope to encourage people to get to know the birds that reside in their yards and gardens and make a place where they can thrive." She serves on the board of the Southwest New Mexico Audubon Society where she combines her art and love of birds with her conservation and education efforts. Her paintings and pillows are shown at the Pinos Altos Gallery. She has lived in Silver City since 1993.

Hop on Highway 15 North to Pinos Altos this weekend to meet the artists from 10:00 - 4:00 Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and view a unique historic church built in 1898.
