Silver City Museum announces a book signing August 11, 2018, 2:30 – 4:00 pm in the Silver City Museum Education Room, 312 West Broadway, Silver City, NM.

Authors Christopher Saxman and Terry Humble, will sign copies of their new book entitled, "Relics of the Underground Metal Miners". Filled with beautiful photographs and rich histories, this book is the first-ever compilation of the remarkable stories and visual record of every mine in the Central Mining District of Grant County. Miners' first-hand accounts coupled with photographs of all remaining mine sites present a record of this rapidly disappearing piece of New Mexico's past.

By way of the over 400 creative photographs of mine relics you will come to discover the splendor of the Central Mining District. In addition, first-hand accounts will help you sense what life was like for the men who tunneled thousands of feet into the ground, blasting, shoveling, and hammering their way into the darkness at sites like the Bullfrog, Hobo, Princess and Empire Zinc.

An additional feature on August 11, from 1:30 – 2:30, local historian Liz Mikols will give a talk entitled "Let Me Entertain You: Three Madams of Silver City, Bessie, Lottie and Millie." This talk will take place in the Museum's Annex located at 302 West Broadway.
