Silver City, August 15 — Michael Cottingham of Voyage Botanica teams up with The Commons: Center for Food Security and Sustainability to bring essential knowledge to our community. The third Tuesday of each month, Cottingham conducts a Community Herb Workshop from 6-8 pm at The Commons (501 E 13th St.). The $20 charge for the workshop helps to support the free (donation-based) Medicinal Herb Clinic the following Wednesday from 9-noon.

Cottingham presents workshops on a variety of topics related to herbs and their many uses, and conducts the clinics where he consults with individuals and makes recommendations as to which herbal remedies might be helpful for whatever ailments they are experiencing. Cottingham’s website, https://www.voyagebotanica.net/, contains a wealth of information on medicinal herbs, as well as educational courses available through Voyage Botanica.

"We’re very lucky to have access to Michael Cottingham’s knowledge and expertise, and we’re happy to be able to present such valuable programming here at The Commons. We endeavor to provide educational events that appeal to wide audiences in our community, and given our down-to-earth citizenry here in Grant County, we think the herbal workshop and clinic really fit the bill," says Kristin Lundgren, spokeswoman for The Commons.

August event dates will be Tuesday, August 21 from 6-8 pm for the workshop and Wednesday August 22 from 9-noon for the clinic. In September the dates will be Tuesday, September 18 from 6-8 pm for the workshop and Wednesday, September 19 from 9-noon for the clinic.
