The Silver City Public Library will offer technology workshops from September through December in collaboration with community partners. One of those partners is Adult Education Services, whose director will be leading workshops on basic tech topics. These will include the following:

There will also be a librarian-led workshop on Friday, September 14, 2:00-4:00pm on free online tools provided by the New Mexico State Library. The session will introduce the free content and resources available to everyone in New Mexico from the El Portal platform. El Portal gives access to newspaper, magazine, and journal articles that would normally require a subscription to access online. Also included are Chilton vehicle repair manuals and online test preparation and tutoring. Visit the portal at http://elportalnm.org.

Up to 14 laptops will be available to use at the workshops. Participants are also welcome to bring their own devices.

"Providing free technology training in the community is very important to us," said Galloway. "Helping more people gain access to technology is an important way to contribute to economic development, education, and community engagement in Grant County."

The Silver City Public Library is located at 515 W. College Avenue in Silver City, on the corner of College and Cooper Street. For more information about technology training and other library services, contact Lillian Galloway at 575-538-3672 or ref@silvercitymail.com.
