The Gila Native Plant Society will conduct a field trip to Ira Canyon near the Gila River in the Burro Mountains on September 16. This will be a moderate hike, relatively flat, with some walking on sand. We can expect to see Anisacanthus thurberi (Thurber's desert honeysuckle), Aloysia wrightii (Wright's beebrush) and Morus microphylla (littleleaf mulberry). The rains may have brought some surprises, too.
Free and open to the public. Meet a little before 8 a.m. in the south parking lot of the WNMU Fine Arts Center Theatre for carpooling. For further information contact hannablood@gmail.com.
