bikersA group of 18 bicyclists and their support vehicle will arrive in Silver City on Thursday, September 20 and explore our community on the 21st as they continue their 3070 mile 53-day ride from San Diego, CA to St. Augustine, FL. First Presbyterian will host the group, providing a place to sleep and dinners both Thursday and Friday.

The group’s mission is to address the challenges of those affected by Multiple Sclerosis and fund research to end MS. Their website describes their purpose as raising funds for MS research and treatment through cross country cycling trips. Their goal is to combine an important cause with an incredible experience. In addition to funding research, cyclists volunteer for MS patients as they pass through communities. A portion of the funds are used to fund projects like accessible ramps and bathrooms. Group leader Claire Dal Nogare said, “We’re excited to get to know Silver City a little bit!”

Anyone who wishes to make a tax-deductible donation to this organization can do so on their website, www.biketheusforms.org , or by leaving a donation at the church at 1915 North Swan St.
