September 23, at 10 am, 3845 North Swan Street -  "Beyond the Knapsack: How Unacknowledged Privilege Prevents Change”  Alicia Edwards will share her thoughts on the things we can’t or won’t talk about that prevent progress in social change movements. She is the Coordinator for Healthy Kids Healthy Communities Grant County, which implements and supports initiatives that create policy, systems and environmental changes that result in increased access to healthy eating and physical activity in schools and communities.

Edwards is the former Executive Director of The Volunteer Center/The Commons Center for Food Security and Sustainability. She helped found the Grant County Food Policy Council, the Grant County Community Foundation, The NM Collaboration to End Hunger and has served on the SW Regional Food Policy Council and the Grant County Community Health Council. She was elected to a four-year term on the Grant County Board of Commissioners in 2016. She is also a published poet, author, photographer and sculptor. Her idea of adventure is a backpack, a one-way ticket to anywhere and has traveled in all 50 states and five continents. Her favorite conveyances for travel are her feet, a bicycle or a sailboat.  Susan Golightly will be the moderator.

This will be a Family Program Sunday and children of all ages are invited to participate. This Sunday, the children will learn more about Intangible Gifts, centering on “The Gift of Forgiveness.”

There will be coffee and conversation after the service, and visitors are always welcome.
