Monday, October 29, 2018; Silver City, NM: Organizational policies can seem tedious, but they are essential to keep a nonprofit well-maintained and smoothly running. The Nonprofit Resource Group knows organizations can use a bit of polish on their policies. That’s why the consulting group is offering workshop facilitated by nonprofit expert Susan Wilger, MPAff, on Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Western New Mexico University.

The workshop, “Do Your Nonprofit Policies Need Updating?” offers best practices for nonprofit personnel and financial policies and procedures, and guidelines for regularly reviewing and updating such essential documents.

Wilger has over 30 years’ experience in nonprofit management and says, “Policies and procedures help to diminish liability and potentially harmful and costly situations.”

Policies and procedures may seem to be dry and dull subjects but are vital to good management by guiding the organization’s staff and board in ethical decision making, legal compliance, conflict resolution and creating a value-driven environment.

Wilger will discuss what makes good policy, policy development, the greatest areas for nonprofit liability, and how policies can reduce an organization’s risk.
