GCAGG opening 7Grant County Art Guild (formerly Hester House building). Photo by Karen Stephenson. The Art Guild has had an emphasis on art education throughout its 50 year history. In keeping with that emphasis, the Guild is honored to host the Art Students of Silver City’s Aldo Leopold Charter School at its new downtown Gallery on Friday, December 7 and Friday, December 14.

Every semester the visual art students, both high school and middle school, hold an art show, located at the Javalina Coffee House. The Fall art show will begin December 6 and run to December 18. Every Friday, the middle school goes off campus, to learn within the community.  On December 7 and 14 the students will be going to Javalina to see their show.

In addition, students rotate through other art related locations during their show time. The Grant County Art Guild is pleased to be one of their hosts this year. Students will tour the Gallery, listen to members tell of their art experiences, and choose an art piece to discuss and critique. The Gallery will be open to the public as well as the students.

The Art Guild Gallery represents the fine art and fine crafts of nearly 30 local artists and artisans who create original paintings, photography, prints, greeting cards, ceramics, sculpture, clayworks, fiber arts, jewelry, metalworks, home décor, Japanese gyotaku, Christmas ornaments, and more.

GCAGG is open every day except holidays. Non-holiday hours are:  Monday through Saturday – 10:00-5:00, and Sunday – 12:00-4:00.  The address is 316 N. Bullard St., Silver City, NM. It is located in the purple building that formerly held Hester House gifts and candy.
