On Monday, December 17 Xochitl Torres Small, the newly elected Democratic member of Congress representing southern New Mexico, will return to Silver City as part of her preparation for her new job. At 5:30 p.m. Xochitl will be at the Grant County Democratic headquarters (3060 Highway 180 East) to thank everyone who helped in her victory. Earlier in the day she will be meeting with representatives of various civic and governmental organizations.

“We are thrilled to welcome Congresswoman-elect Torres Small to celebrate her successful campaign,” stated Frances Vasquez, chair of the Grant County Democratic Party. “Her victory was perhaps the most significant outcome in the November election. Xochitl will be a fresh, positive new player in Washington, and she’ll bring a voice of fairness, openness, integrity and compassion to the many crises going on up there. This event on Monday will give the scores of folks who volunteered to canvass for her this fall – and everyone who voted for her -- a chance to meet and wish her well in her important new role.”

The meeting is open to the public.
