Luna County, NM - On January 12, 2019 at about 7:19 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a one vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 10 near mile post 76, west of Deming. 

The initial investigation indicated a 2016 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Cody Lee Wilshusen (25) of San Tan Valley, AZ was traveling west on Interstate 10. For unknown reasons the Jeep drifted off the roadway, entered the center median and crashed into the guardrail, causing the Jeep to roll. Wilshusen sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. A child passenger in the Jeep sustained unknown injuries and was transported to a Hospital.  

Alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor in the crash. Seatbelts do appear to have been used properly. No other additional information is currently available.
