Luna County, NM - On March 8, 2019 at around 5:45 p.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on 8th and Coyote Road in Deming, NM.   

The initial investigation indicated a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant, driven by a forty-one-year-old Deming woman, was traveling south on 8th street. For reasons still under investigation the Mitsubishi left the roadway and rolled. The passenger of the Mitsubishi, Tammy Plant (31) of Deming, was ejected from the vehicle,  sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. 

The driver was airlifted to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be involved and seatbelts do not appear to have been properly utilized. The crash is still under investigation and no additional information is currently available.
