collegeaveWhat: The official ribbon cutting following the completion of the College Ave. beautification project, a joint infrastructure improvement undertaking between Western New Mexico University and the Town of Silver City.

Following the ribbon cutting along College Ave., dignitaries and attending members of the public will stroll to the newly opened Einstein’s Bros. Bagels for an official kick-off and tour with refreshments provided by Einstein Bros. Bagels.

Who: Western New Mexico University’s President Dr. Joseph Shepard, along with Regents Janice Baca-Argabright, Dr. Carl Foster, Jerry Waltz and recently appointed members Mary Hotvedt and Timothy (Tim) Stillman. Also attending will be Town of Silver City Mayor Ken Ladner and other delegates representing the Town of Silver City.

Where: College Ave. at D Street, westside of WNMU’s Castorena Hall near the Corre Caminos bus stop.

When: Tuesday, March 26, 2019

11:00 – 11:30 a.m.: College Ave. ribbon cutting and remarks 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.: Official opening and refreshments at Einstein Bros. Bagels

Why: As Western New Mexico University works to create more collaborative projects with the community to enhance the lives of WNMU students, staff and faculty, as well as have a positive economic impact through important infrastructure projects such as the development of College Ave. that have a direct bearing on the quality of life for all residents throughout Grant County. The addition of Einstein Bros. Bagels to the selection of on-campus dining options allows WNMU to not only add greater variety for WNMU stakeholders but to the entire community as the University continues to enhance its role as southwest New Mexico’s educational, cultural, and workforce development hub.

How: Attendance is free and open to the public.
