April 6 -- Whitewater Mesa annual Kite Flying Picnic

(Photo by Cheryl Thornburg)For a colorful, exciting, family friendly event, the Whitewater Mesa Fun Kite Flying Picnic is set for noon to 5 p.m. Saturday April 6. Admission is free. While you are here and for a completely different experience, walk one or all six of the labyrinths and a maze across the road at Whitewater Mesa Labyrinths. For the second time, the event is sanctioned by the American Kitefliers Association.

There will be a free raffle drawing for a kite at 2:30 p.m., so be sure to pick up a raffle ticket on arrival at the gate with the labyrinth sign. Water, kite mending supplies, a Johnny on the Spot porta-pottie and loaner kites are provided. Bring a picnic, your kite, a sunhat and something to sit on.

Sunset is at 7:38 p.m. Twilight: begins at 8:03 p.m. (Telescope Viewing Starts)

Dr. Al Grauer will set up a telescope and point out objects in the Sky. Bring a chair, warm clothes, and a flashlight. Red filter material for flashlights will be provided.

The 34th Annual San Francisco Valley 4-H Spring Bingo is set for April 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Glenwood Community Center.  There will be food and great prizes.

April 12 is Movie Night at Glenwood Community Library.  The film is “Green Book” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Free popcorn and soft drinks are provided.  Donations are always appreciated. Showtime is 7 p.m. at the library, 14 Menges Lane, Glenwood, New Mexico 88039.

Glenwood Community Library will hold its book sale, with lots of books and DVDs to appeal to different readers and viewers. It runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday April 13.

April 13 -- GWC Rummage Sale

Glenwood Woman’s Club Rummage Sale is set for Saturday April 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. As you do your Spring Cleaning or downsizing you can get rid of your stuff by donating them.

Donations will be accepted Friday April 12 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  No used electronics will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship fund.

April 13 – Dutch Oven Gathering

(Photo by Cheryl Thornburg)The Glenwood, NM Dutch Oven Gathering will be on Saturday April 13th at the Glenwood Community Park, on Catwalk Road. Glenwood Street Market -- Every Saturday

The Glenwood Street Market, is back with a variety of unique arts and crafts, and baked goods, produce and snacks. The market is open from every Saturday on Highway 180 in downtown Glenwood.

Fireworks donations needed

Glenwood is the only locale in Catron County that presents a gala Fireworks Show on the 4th of July. It is funded by fireworks fans. Contributions are gratefully received. Send donations to Frisco Cowbelles/Fireworks, PO Box 341, Glenwood, NM 88039.
