The Silver City Public Library is updating the system that manages the public computers in the library building. The new system, called Cybrarian, will provide the same functions that library computer users already take advantage of every day: computer time limit management, management of waiting lists when all the computers are occupied, and management of printing. “I look forward to implementing this new system, because I believe it will work more smoothly than our current out-of-date system,” explained Lillian Galloway, library assistant director.

New system implementation will take place on Friday, May 24. The computers will be available to the public using the new system on Friday, May 24 at the earliest, or on Tuesday, May 28 at the latest. The library is closed Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day.

After the new system is in place, a significant new feature will be implemented: wireless printing. This will allow library users to print from their own laptops, tablets, or smart phones. “We are very excited for the launch of wireless printing, because many patrons have been requesting this feature,” said Galloway.
