Drinking water has been restored to the Upper and Lower Scorpion Campgrounds and at the Trailhead Museum in the vicinity of the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and the Gila Visitor Center. This project was completed with the support of the Forest Service Wilderness Ranger District and the staff at Gila Cliff Dwellings, which includes a very dedicated volunteer, Jim Smith.

Kevin Tillman, the park Superintendent, is excited and proud of the teamwork involved and the outcome of this water-line restoration project. The water meets US Forest Service, National Park Service and New Mexico State drinking water standards.
