A Glamour Shot Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 1 pm to 4 pm at Vintage Fantasies located at 412 N. Bullard St. The Glamour shots are being taken by George Austin, formerly of Silver Portrait Studios. The cost is $20 for a 5 X 7 picture. The funds raised will be used to purchase holiday decorations for downtown. Come to Vintage Fantasies and put on a gown, wig and have your glamour shot taken!

The idea was Patsy Madrid’s, owner of Vintage Fantasies. She states, “I love Silver City and growing up we had Christmas lights galore in all colors and back and forth across the streets - it was beautiful! I was glad to help raise funds to make downtown super bright with lights last year and offered to host the fundraiser again. As a child growing up I can remember coming downtown and seeing all the lights and feeling like Christmas. It was overwhelming.”

Wigs are being donated by Joe Navan, who moved here from San Diego where he owned a wig shop. Funds made from the sale of the high quality wigs are being donated to the MainStreet for holiday decorations.  Joe loves the Lighted Christmas Parade and states, “The Lighted Christmas Parade made me feel that Christmas spirit I had as a kid. Patsy told me about the lights and I love bling and wanted to help light up downtown.”

George and Melinda Austin of the former Silver Portrait Studios were glad to help too. “We love our community and if we can do something to help with the holiday lights, we think that is wonderful.” George has served on the MainStreet board in the past and Melinda on the Design committee. 

“Silver City MainStreet is so grateful for this support, states Patrick Hoskins, Board President. We want to make downtown a really beautiful place for the holidays that will encourage families to come downtown to enjoy. We also have a dedicated group of volunteers who help year round on planning the decorations. This is what community is about.”
