Glenwood, NM, August 26, 2019 -- The Glenwood Ranger District will be hosting an open house on Tuesday, September 3 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Glenwood Community Center, located at 14 Menges Lane. The plan for meeting is to share an overview of the plan to decommission one-half mile of two-track road and to conduct prescribed fire in the Outlet of Saliz Watershed.

The proposed project is 17 miles north of Glenwood, Catron County, New Mexico. The project is to improve the Outlet of Saliz Watershed from "Functioning at Risk" to "Properly Functioning Condition." Details of the project will be available at the meeting. Part of the project area includes two parallel roads; one two-track road that goes through Saliz Creek and the other is a gravel road that goes up and around Saliz Creek. The project proposal includes decommissioning one-half mile of the two-track that goes through Saliz Creek, mechanical treatment and prescribed fire for approximately 800 acres within the watershed.

Maps and copies of the proposed project will be available at the meeting, and district employees will be available to answer questions.
