Silver City, NM, August 28, 2019—The upcoming workshop co-sponsored by PFLAG Silver City and WNMU School of Education on September 13th has now expanded to include parents and family of LGBTQ children attending the public schools in Grant and surrounding counties.  The free, full-day workshop, 8:00-3:30, will be held on the WNMU campus and includes an on-site lunch catered by Corner Kitchen.

The workshop, entitled “Creating Inclusive K-12 Schools for LGBTQ+ Students,” is primarily geared for administrators, teachers, social workers, psychologists, librarians and other school staff; however, parents, grandparents, and family of LGBTQ children will also benefit from the information and activities provided by trainers from GLSEN Albuquerque. Health care providers, therapists, and counselors, as well as WNMU students, will also be in attendance, thereby providing networking opportunities for anyone who works with children and young adults.  Those interested must register at www.pflagsilver.org, and registration closes on September 6th.

Founded in 1973 after the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation's largest family and ally organization. For more information, call PFLAG Silver City at 575-590-8797, or go to www.pflagsilver.org
